Long distance relationship

Long distance relationship is not easy. I saw by myself how struggle and how difficult to keep the relationship as long and good enough.

My ex-manager. He working at Selangor however, his wife is a doctor at negeri sembilan. He only managed to spend their time together during weekend. His son, staying with him because his wife job need her to be on call. But if he need to travel, he will not meet his wife for some time.

My colleague. He also became a weekend husband. He staying here in selangor however his wife is a teacher at negeri sembilan. His job as a service engineer need him to travel almost the time. He only managed to spend his time with his family once or twice a month.

My another colleague. He is more in tough situation. He can only managed to spend time with his wife and their few months baby twice a year. His job need him to be located at Qatar. It was hard but for the sake of his family, he willing to do so.

How to keep a long distance relationship strong enough? I believed the main reason is trust. Trust need to come from both parties. If one person betraying each other, the relationship will be ruins. We cannot staying in one relationship if our partner couldn't trust us.

Secondly, communication. I believed we need to communicate to each other to avoid any miscommunication occurs in the future. A short wish like 'good morning' and 'good night' can change our mood and our day. No need to communicate 24/7. Just spend half an hour or one hour a day are more than enough.

Thirdly, a good listener. In a relationship, eventhough how busy you are, please try to listen to their story. A good partner can always notice their partner having problem by only listening to their voice or the way their partner reply their text. Maybe we cannot settle down their problem but by become a good listener, our partner can feel a little bit relief.

If you asked me whether i believed in a long distance relationship, my answer is i need to believe. My job need me to travel overseas few times a year. My job also need me to spend most of the time in the office, went to site and went for meeting outside. If i cannot believe on long distance relationship, i think i will never ever married forever.

Long distance can make our relationship better but always noted that long distance can also destroy our relationship. Which one do you prefer? It is up to you to choose.
